  10. I. System Requirements
  11.   The Timeless Empire should run on any Amiga with
  12. AmigaOS 1.3 or higher and 1 MByte of RAM. "Should" means that I only had the
  13. chance to test the game on an A500, A2000 and A4000 under AmigaOS 1.3 and
  14. 3.0. If this demo runs on your system, then the registered game should run,
  15. too.

  17. II. Limitations in this demo
  18.   This is only a demo of the game! The demo has the following
  19. limitations:
  20.   - You can't save or restore your game position
  21.   - Scripting has been disabled
  22.   - The size of the game area is limited
  23.   - There are no built-in hints
  24.   Anything else works like in the registered version.

  26. III. Getting started
  27.   To start the demo, just double-click the game's icon. If your computer
  28. should crash before the game opens its screen, try to run it from the CLI, but
  29. remember that the game needs a very large stack (about 50000 bytes),
  30. so type Stack 50000 before starting the game.
  31.   The game requires the diskfont.library and the mathieeedoubbas.library.
  32. Make sure that both libraries are in your LIBS: drawer, otherwise the game
  33. might crash.

  35. IV. First steps
  36.   After the game has loaded, you'll see the prompt (>) on your screen.
  37. The prompt tells you that the game is waiting for your input. You can control
  38. the game using plain English sentences such as TAKE THE BALL, LOOK AT THE
  39. FROG or ASK THE IDIOT ABOUT THE DEAD MOUSE.
  40.   As your first input, you should type LOOK AT THE FIREPLACE.. Press RETURN to
  41. finish your input. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC for a while. Go OUT and
  42. WAIT until you find yourself on the hill. SLEEP till morning. You're
  43. now about to embark on the journey of your life.
  44.   The next time you start playing... can you rescue the girl?!?

  46. V. It's Shareware!
  47.   The Timeless Empire is shareware! This means that if you want
  48. more than this demo, you'll have to pay for it - 20,-- DM, to be more exact.
  49. Please send only cash and only D-Mark. Packaging and postage
  50. is included in the price, so it should be a fair price.
  51.   I spent two years on this one, so I think it should be worth paying the
  52. shareware fee. There are lots of different solution paths (more than in any
  53. other computer adventure game!) and your every decision will change the course
  54. of the story.
  55.   Furthermore, each registered game comes along with some "goodies" you'll
  56. need to solve the game, plus a built-in hintbook which helps you when you're 
  57. stuck and a special enhanced OS2.0-Version.

  64.   You'll receive your game disk, a printed instruction manual, and the Amiga
  65. Mipric Story System Reference Sheet. The game disk also contains a special
  66. interpreter version for OS2.0 and higher. This version supports ASL-requesters
  67. and allows you to change the environment of the game (screenmode, colours,
  68. font).

  70. VI. Updates
  71.   Yes, there will be updates! I will keep both the interpreter and
  72. the story up to date and offer free updates from time to time. So
  73. when you discovered a spelling mistake (sorry about that), bugs or if you
  74. think there should be another way to solve a certain puzzle... write me!
